Or perhaps we should have just stuck to selling it by the gallon as we all still talk in MPG.

All selling fuel in foreign measurements has achieved is to disguise the fact that the price is now around £6 per gallon.
My comment was tongue in cheek.
My car can display MPG or LP100k - neither is good because we buy in litres and travel miles - perhaps we need to use miles per litre.
  • Fill until it clicks off, then do again and again. Compute mpg from litres bought and miles travelled. Not rocket science.

In my crazy mind, vehicle fuel economy should be advertised as miles per litre as you buy fuel in litres & not gallons.

I buy fuel by cost...£20 at a time (low mileage user). My partner just fills the tank after 400 miles or so. Both of us are uninterested in the number of litres....other than the cost!

Cost of fuel here has not gone up at a;;. I used to put a tenner in 5 years ago, and I do now, still costs a tenner!

Jesus Christ, what ever happened to the old school way of doing things? OP, when your fuel light comes on, turn into the nearest fuel station and fill up 4.55 litres. (or 5 litres including the drive to the fuel station if there was a distance.) then reset the miles on your clock. The moment the light comes back on, check your clock. This is the amount of miles you do per gallon.

    Hope this helps.

    You know it makes sense!

I assume the poor spelling and grammar was a sarcastic way of showing that you have the required IQ to vote BNP?
