Hie,
I am not sure whter this is right thread but i think its the closest.
Basically we bought a house on mortgage in March and are renovating it. Decided to get a Band Q kitchen on their 0% offer.
They told us that they could only apply one name to the credit application because of some responsible lending rule, which we were fine with.
My OH went ahead and did the application which they declined because he has never had debt apart from the mortgage...
Now I just found out they credit checked me as well and i am unsure as to how to proceed. They didnt ask for my details but i got an alert on my credit file......
Can I ask them to remove it??? Is that even legal. I thought you always had to give consent for a search to be done on you.
Many thanks,

If you are married and therefore have a joint financial link, it is correct that they will assess both of your credit files.
If you hold any joint financial products, this means you can also be financially linked.Best Regards

Just to add, financial associate searches are classed as 'unrecorded enquiries', meaning they're not seen by other lenders when searching your file so have no effect on your credit rating.0

Exactly. You will see the credit search on your file and this is why you got the alert - but they did not put your name on the application.
When either of you apply for credit both of your credit files are taken into consideration along side each other as you are financially associated by the mortgage.
A financial associate search isn't visible by other lenders and doesn't affect your credit worthiness. Only the main applicant's.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
