Shaving

Options
Hi -

Another teenage problem from me:

I need to shave regularly, and up to now simply use a Gillete Fusion (4 blade) and Gillete Fusion Shaving Gel... I shave upwards on the neck, beard area, and moustache - upwards everywhere.

Although the hairs on my cheek grow downwards, I have noticed (as have my friends) that the hairs on my neck are growing in the wrong direction - weird! How should I go about this?

I also get a lot of acne.. Is it better for me to use a 1 blade razor than a 4 blade? That is what I heard on the internet..

Some of you may laugh at this question, but it would help me a lot if you could answer!

PS: I just found this article,http://www.howtd.com/work/20060901/441.htm and am going to try shaving like that tomorrow, but please still answer my above questions, and if possible also let me know if it is alright to follow what is in that article.

Thank you so much!

How close a shave can you get with an electric?

Also, what type are better, say if you look at these two examples below ( the heads are completely different)

I encouraged my son to start with a dry shave before he started to wet shave. Also just to use nivia after shave balm rather than a strong after shave lotion until his skin settled down.

Nivea Lotion is a life saver as I get really bad rashes on the neck and blotchy on the face.

Haha, if I stick to using my current razor, I might transfer my whole range to nivea, just use a face wash, moisturizer lotion, and some exfoliator.. is that about right? and is electric shaving recommended - if so what type of head (the triple one things or just the single)

EDIT: I mean what is better foil or rotary?
  • I have to agree with the nivea sensitive after shave balm suggestion. After a wet shave(which I think is the best), putting nivea would always cool the skin down. The best thing they ever invented!!!

Okay I'm gonna go get some of this after shave balm ASAP, I'll probably go for the extra sensitive one - is that right?
  • in all seriousness why dont you try growing a beard to a length of 1.5cm and then getting it waxed- this would weaken the hairs and make it easier to shave in the future. Us girlies have all sorts of sensitive places waxed so Im sure a blokey fella could stand the shock just once- in the name of saving money.

best thing to help your acne (if your doctor isnt already prescribing you something) is to drink water. lots of it. for the first week, you will explode in spots, and you'll feel like the !!!!!!s are about to take over your face

then your body settles down, and your skin will clear up. not necessarily completely, but it usually makes a noticeable difference. lots of fruit and veg also help

as for the shaving business, being a lady, never had to shave me face before :D my OH suffers from sensitive skin, and finds that he gets less irritation if he waits a few days be tween each shave (although there is fine balance to be struck - leave it too long, and it is painful to shave when the stubble is longer/thicker). as i said, i've never shaved me face before, but he shaves his whole head with a razor, so im guessing he knows what he's talking about!
