Refusal to cancel Nationwide CC PPI

In February 2008 I cancelled PPI with Nationwide Credit Card Services in writing.
Despite numerous followup calls and letters, payments continued to be taken and for many months Nationwide would neither admit nor deny receipt of my cancellation.
I also learned that Pinnacle Insurance PLC would continue to take my money for my cancelled insurance as long as Nationwide wanted; it also is apparently willing to cancel insurance cover retrospectively when Nationwide finds that expedient.
Around June I withheld payments stating clearly that it was because Nationwide refused to cancel PPI.
In August 2008 I received a letter falsely stating I had attempted to cancel PPI by telephone ( only written cancellation was allowed ) and claiming that if I signed and returned the entire letter PPI would be cancelled; ie I would have to agree my previous cancellation was not valid and my payments to August would not be refunded.
In a phone call in September I may have been tricked into a verbal contract; my PPI insurance cover was then retrospectively cancelled back to February without my written consent and my payments since then refunded.
Nationwide have of course ignored my request for a copy of any of my conversations with them.
Nationwide refused to cancel the penalty charges for non payment; however they have never denied or tried to disprove my assertion that I would still be paying PPI had I not withheld payment.
They have similarly ignored far more serious assertions ( probably true but perhaps unprovable ).
I appealed, first using Nationwide's procedure then the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Nationwide appear to have provided substantial information to the FOS which they refused to provide to me.
During these appeals I have received frequent harassing letters and phone calls from these well known organisations:
Graham White Solicitors
Fredrickson International Ltd
Roxburghe Debt Collectors
Bryan Carter Solicitors
I don't know if the OFT guidance on debt collection has legal force, but many of these guidelines have certainly been broken.

In a, in hindsight very unwise, move I recently informed FOS that I did not wish to fight two ( or six ) parallel actions and withdrew my FOS appeal.
I wonder if many other people have had similar experiences with Nationwide; if so I suspect Nationwide would prefer not to go to court.
As Nationwide appear to have sold my disputed debt during appeal when it was ( I think ) worthless can anyone tell me what is likely to happen now?

Is the balance or debt you believe to be disputed entirely made up of PPI?Best Regards

I think it is clear that withholding payment on a credit agreement is a foolish course of action. It took the focus away from the real dispute.
As far as I can see you still owe the money and have trashed your credit file.
Great result!0 -

I still get regular invitations to take out a new Nationwide credit card - perhaps they know something I don't.0
