Weed control membrane underneath a trampoline

I wasnt sure where to post here as lots of families have trampolines or the gardening section, but thought here was best, hope so.
We are getting a trampoline delivered on wednesday and in the meantime we are preparing the area at the bottom of the garden for it. Currently it was a potato pit with a little bit of a sandpit for the kids to the side, but we are removing all that, levelling it and wanting to put membrane down to stop the weeds etc growing. The then be just bare soil, with a membrane on top, with stones on top or something to weigh it down. We feel it would be easier to do that than to keep moving the trampoline out to deal with weeds, new spud sprouting or new grass growth.
I went down to my local DIY shop and they've got 1.5m on a roll at £1.39 a metre. We've not measure up yet but will probably need a good 3-4msq possibly 4-5.
Has anyone else done this or used a weedproof membrane underneath the trampoline, or should we be considering something else.
Thanks.

Yes we have just done this with ours, dug the soil out a bit first, covered over then we put bark chippings on top, looks great0
