    Thanks its appreciated..!

Any Idea why is takes so long and is there anything we can do to speed the process up?

The process takes time for COP..
application .. Dr's report, submission, contacting other interested parties incase they object.
Then you have to present the person for whom you are taking control
with the paperwork to .. wait for it..
tell them you intend to apply as they are no longer mentally capable of controlling their own financial affairs :rotfl:
You will also have to take out a yearly insurance policy in case you decide to run off with all the money and submit accounts every year once the order is in place.

Do you have a case number in which case you can phone the COP office direct and ask them.

Cavework's description is about right, just add in a visit from the COP visitor to check that you are doing everything right and that their Client is being looked after. And don't forget the annual fee of about £100 as well as the bond which was £275 a year in my case.

That's right, no longer is the person your Mum, Dad etc , they are a Client of the COP and you are now an appointed person to act on the Court's behalf. KEEP ALL RECEIPTS and do accounts regularly as you will never remember everything you have done by the end of the accounting year. If you do that you will be ok.

    Hi Folks.

If power of attorney is granted and the Flat was rented out. What would be the best thing to do with the money. It should go on Gran but it cant go to upgrading her residential care as the state is state is paying for it as shes been sectioned?

Any suggestions to these ones :-

    - Physio.
    - Private health care
    - Flowers , Clothes.
    - Could the rent money top up her existing accommodation money.

    Thanks all.
