Never mind sit down and talk to him I would give him a right crack and make him pay it off. Buy him Martin's new book as his Christmas present!
You can lead a horse to water........ but if he did read it and learn, it would be a start!

You don't have a leg to stand on as bonnie said. Your child used your card, the only people at fault are you and your son. Sorry.
You are probably right but it isn't a very helpful suggestion for moving on from the mess

She needs some suggestions how to get out of the mess, she probably feels bad enough already.

I am confused now - is this original poster a scammer or a genuine plea?

My suggestions for helping out are if it is a genuine plea and apologies to anyone I may have offended in trying to help in good faith.

  • I have had a personal message from this guy asking me for a public apology for calling him a liar.

Well that is not going to happen

He also stated that there is a premium section on the website... which he is correct there is, this is where they get to upgrade their membership....

Now considering its only 19.99Euros to upgrade for a year how on earth did he spend £320? (there is no option to purchase more than one year)

Also there is no option to use a credit card, he would have had to use your paypal account or call a German operator & give your credit card details over the phone. Him being 12 would make that pretty difficult for the company to accept.

Mostlybroke, the link you provided was to trick people into clicking it so you could try & win more gold for yourself/son or whovever.. if this is a genuine request for help then you should remove the link & we'll move on.

You're quite correct, this is a scam where he is trying to get as many people to visit that website. The OP needs to get out more!

I reported this post yesterday but it still here.

  • This is a HOAX - Do not click on the site, its a con to get as many people to click on the link as the person who gets the most "victims" wins gold....

    Rules from the site...

    "Vampir Game Basics

You require nothing more than an internet connection and a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) to play MonstersGame. Click on "Register" and decide whether you want to join the clan of the vampires or that of the werewolves. Registration is quite easy, doesn't cost you anything and there is no further obligation on your part.

Once you have registered you find yourself on the overview page of your RPG character. Here you can find important information about your character and also your victim-link, with which you can find victims in the far reaches of the internet by placing the link appropriately"

    See... no credit card involved...

I only know this cuz I'm an internet gamer myself... FOR FREE

AGAIN.... THIS IS NOT A GENUINE REQUEST FOR HELP BUT A CON

** REPORTED FOR FORUM ABUSE **

thanks bargain... i thought it was but didnt want to say anything at the fear of being shouted down :) anyways i hope it is pulled... i also play online (also payed for) but nothing like this...
  • I notice the link has now been removed from the original post, so maybe we can stop arguing about it.
I know children can make you really angry but shouting at them is never very productive in my experience as they just clam up! (apologies if you never shout at him, as I'm sure most parents do shout from time to time!)
    Mine tends to shout back!
  • This is just one of those 'what kids do' situations. Yes its is bad, yes I would feel like killing the child at the time, yes I would be very angry and shouting but its just one of those things kids do, like drawing on your walls or flushing your contact lenses down the loo.

This reminds me of the lady (sorry I can't remember the user) whose child had run up about £500 on the phone bill by calling the buy credits for an internet game. Think she made the child in question do jobs to repay the money and gave them a good terlling off - this the same action needs to be taken here.

All I can think is you get a new 0% card and transfer the balance until you can afford to pay it, and put it down to experience so it doesn't happen again.

In ten years time you'll be telling everyone about this around a pint at the local pub and laughing about it!
