chop the cards up
youll never get out of debt while you continue to get in
sounds obvious? it took me years to learn
After that lets see your SOA and seeif theres a budgeting problem - there has to be if you are putting food on your credit card? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hi Jak
This is my first month, too, and it's hard to break old patterns. I keep thinking I'll use my cc because it feels scary to use my current account. It is a well known fact that things bought with a credit card don't cost anything and keep the money in your bank account safe
Making myself believe that using my switch card and upping the overdraft a bit is better than using a credit card has been stupidly difficult. I've had that 'no money' moment too often, I think, when I go to get cash out of the machine and it refuses. If I vaguely thought I was anywhere near my OD limit, I would use the cc (of course, checking my balance was out of the question )
All cards now in a file, not my purse, by the way.
I think becoming an MSE is about learning new money disciplines - it can't all be done at once so don't beat yourself up.
Good luck next month

Cut it up, burn it then put the ashes into several envelopes and post them to different countries just to be really sure.

replace the word 'credit' card with debt card - somebody on here had that in their signature and I think it is so true... Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0

Batfink wrote:Another cutter upper here, although - I was sat today thinking 'Oh, I'd like to go shopping - but I can't because I've cut up all my cards and have no cash'. I spent most of the day thinking that was a bad thing .... but now I'm still wearing my perfectly good old clothes and realising I've saved myself quite a lot of money today!

Really good point this. It is just about getting through the day and taking it one day at a time. If you can get through the day until the shops are closed you do ALWAYS feel so much better!!0 -
