Moving money from overseas

My daughter is currently living and working in Russia as an English teacher; because it's a cash economy over there, very few people have bank accounts and they all store their money under the mattress. So my daughter hasn't opened a bank account there. In order to get money into her UK bank account she currently sends it through Western Union for her Dad to pick up and pay into her account.
Western Union's charges are outrageous! Does anyone know of a cheaper (legal!) way of bringing her earnings home?
