Not so. If you set up a payment from NatWest esaver on, say, a Saturday, it will show Monday as the day it will go. However when you click 'confirm' the cash goes (and arrives) same day by FPs.

It's poor wording on the payment page rather than failure to send via FP on non working days.

An additional anomoly is that the system 'remembers' the Monday date, so will not allow further payments until the Tuesday!
How do you bypass the error message shown on the second screen on weekends, e.g. the one below, captured from a test payment a couple of minutes ago? I've never been desperate enough to try.

26/4/11 is the next working day (Monday is a bank holiday), so the date will default to 26th. If you changed this to todays date (23rd) you'll get the error message. Re-enter 26th. It should go immediately (but don't blame me if it doesn't - this is just the experience I've had in the past!)

As I said earlier, I've never been desperate enough to try it and am not now - just did a test to stage 2, at which the error message was shown.

In view of your comment about the system retaining the next working day's date, I doubt if I ever will be desperate enough to try it.

I just sent some money via FP from my Tesco Internet Saving account to my Natwest account, although it said on the Tesco payment confirmation page that the money has left and will get credited on the 26th April, when I logged into my Natwest account the payment has gone through OK.

I have found Tesco's Savings accounts to be one of the best for Faster Payments in & out.

Tesco Internet savings allows withdrawals of £10k FP per day.
Tesco Instant Access (Telephone banking) £10K FP per day & up to £50k via Bacs using their telephone banking service (with the ATM card you can withdraw £300 from the hole in the wall and a further £500 in store per day).

I have got the Tesco Internet Saver and also the Tesco Instant Access (telephone banking) account which helps when you need to withdraw more than £10K in one day.

On one occasion when I needed to withdraw a large amount from my Tesco Internet Savings account I was only allowed to withdraw £10k FP per day which would have taken 5 days to transfer the full amount out. So I transfered the money online from my Tesco Internet account to my Tesco Instant savings account, then phoned up Tesco telephone banking and withdrew the full £50k in 1 transaction via Bacs transfer (withdrew on Tuesday and money reached destination on Thursday).

You will be unless you open the latest version of the account @ 2.9% AER then, when it's open, instruct Tesco to close your present account & transfer the balance to the new one.

I have just completed this process.

Yes mine is now fully open and the old one closed.

I just enclosed a letter with the application form (which you should receive by post) instructing them to close the old account when the new one was open and to transfer any balance to the new account.

You need to do this because you can only receive the bonus on one Internet Savings account.

What is the advantage of Tesco's Internet Saver (AER 2.9%) if you could get one with higher interest rate such as Halifax Web Saver Reward (e.g 2.8%+0.2%). It could become FP if i is combined with reward current a/c.

Very impressed with Tesco's Internet Saver - not only FP in & out but also the ability to set up outgoing payments up to four months in advance; very useful for funding regular savings accounts, etc.

Personally, I have a large amount of deposits in the various HBOS 'brands', so the Tesco account is better for me.
