Child benefit changes

Son & wife are expecting their first baby. My son earns a good salary ( £41000 -gross) and his wife intends to work one day a week, minimum wage, mainly to keep her hand in work. Sons friend told him they wont get Child benefit as he earns more than $0k, but I thought this was effective until 2013. Is this correct?
Also, as the baby will be ( eventually) going to childcare, how does the childcare voucher system work? Would this reduce his tax liability if HE claims it as his wife will be unlikely to earn enough to pay tax.
Are there any other child related benefits they are entitiled to?

Pop the details in here to see what they may be entitled to:

On that salary though it won't be much. I don't think that on that sort of salary you're entitled to WTC (over the threshold) so I don't think the childcare aspect is paid because they wouldn't receive WTC if that makes sense. I think this is right but if not someone will be along to let you know shortly.
They both have to to put income details on the forms whether 1 pays no tax or not.
I was aware that it was £44,000 this states: In 2010/11, higher rate tax starts once income exceeds £43,875 and yes it's due to come in 2013 so to start off with CB will be payable.
I'm sure this is right but as I said if not someone will be along to point out the correct information

Sorry just re-read and you asked about the childcare voucher system. As I believe a percentage is removed from the wages BEFORE tax (therefore reducing the amount paid) and these vouchers are then used to pay the childcare provider but I'm not sure on the exact details. I'm sure someone else will be able to tell you more about it
