Push fit scale inhibitor leaking

Hi

We have what looks like a "push fit" electolyte scale inhibitor immediatly after the stop tap. The area directly below always seems to be damp and today when i rubbed my hand around the joint it was wet. It looks like the push fit joint is leaking slightly.

I was wondering why this might be and what the easiest way to repair this leak would be? Are there any ways of sealing the joint without removing the inhibitor?

Thanks

  • Are you sure it's leaking? it could just be condensation forming on the scale inhibitor, if so putting some insulation around it might help reduce it.
I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes.
  • Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yes it is coming from the inhibitor. Having inspected it closely i can see a 1 - 2mm gap at the joint where the water appears to be coming from.

I assume it will need to be replaced.
