Switching providers - contract problem!
Options
Hello,
A friend of mine has a problem with her electricity provider. She signed into a contract of 2 years, and this February the contract was up. She then tried to switch provider but was told by Opus energy that she couldn't as she had to let them know 90 days before the contract was up. They have now tied her into another year's contract.
Has anyone else had similar problems? Scottish power tried to get her out of it, but couldn't.. and now she's received a letter from Opus energy saying they have raised a transfer objection.
Is this allowed? And is she bound with them for another year? Is there nothing she can do at all???
Just thought I'd ask... I know it's a long shot!!
Thanks in advance,
Nat

Opus are a business energy only provider and business contracts are different to the rolling 28 day contract you deal with as a domestic energy customer. Is this regarding a business unit, or is your friend someone who works from home, and for some unknown reason been recommended to have bus energy rates rather than domestic?0
