Caulk

Do you use caulk before or after you decorate? The skirting on our stairs is very loose and some wooden boxing in for our electrical cables is badly fittted.
I'm having many arguments with my husband.
1 opinion is that it's to finish off and give a neat finish with no gaps.
Another view is that the white line will be better off being painted.
What do you think?

You use it before you decorate. See it as a kind of 'pollyfilla in a tube'. You would use Pollyfilla before you decorate so do the same with caulking.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Done it both ways to be honest!
Have painted over it in areas we've filled before decorating, but have also left it as is around doors, windows and some skirtings etc. as long as it matches the paint.0 -
If you dont paint over it, it will go a dirty grey in no time0
