Hi,
I need to know how much space does a 1 hour FLAC file typically use? I realise there are probably lots of caveats but I'm looking for a 'typical use' answer.
Thanks

Typically it'll achieve a compression rate of between 30% and 50%. The actual size will depend on what you are compressing.Stompa0

If you're using FLAC to compress a WAV file.
One hour is approximately 350MB - 400MB.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
It will depend on the bit rate of the audio files. at 1000kbps an hour would take up around 440mb. The bit rate depends on the sampling rate, if you are getting the audio off of a CD then this should be a larger estimate but not unrealistic.

around 380 megabytes per hour!!

Beatles - Sea Of Time (Yellow Submarine album) is 3 mins dead and compresses to 14,985KB (15MB bar the screaming & shouting), so that's approx 5MB of disk space per 1 minute of audio in FLAC format.
A .WAV file occupies approx 10MB per 1 minute of audio, so your compression ratio is approx 50% with FLAC but you do have the advantage it is a lossless format.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0
