Hi Folks...
This is my first post, so treat me gently!
I am taking out more life assurance through the site reccomended agent, and I need to state if I want "own" or "functional assesment test" for the critical illness part.
Which should I take, given the cost is the same...?
Thanks for the advice!

Hello DJ
I am no expert, and hopefully one will be along shortly, but in the meantime I would think that the "own" is referring to the own job test, and that the functional assesment refers to what is known as the all work test.
You would be much be better off with the "own", as then you do not end up having to collect trollies in sainsbury's when you can no longer act in your own higher paid career.
Not that there is anything wrong with collecting trollies, but the salary level may be much lower than your current earnings.
My OH had the own occupation clause, and he cannot do that so they have been paying him for almost 10 years so far.
Good luck
