I've only registered to post this because I feel it is my duty to say how crap the service is from http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/ . I got a Laptop from them last year and decided to format the HD. When I went to put in the recovery disk it was soo badly scratched it didn't work. Even though this was the first time I had taken it out of it's case.
It was an ex-display model. Laptop shop should have replaced the CD but are pointing me elsewhere where I have to pay £30 for a new one even though it's their own careless fault.
So if you're thinking about buying a laptop from craptop; then prepare to be ripped off.

Have you tried repairing the CD? Just a cheap fellowes repair kit worked wonders with my scratched dvds."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

By your own admission it was Ex-Display.... The "You get what you pay for" comes to mind here.... I take it the laptop was OK... A bit harsh to condemn a whole shop just because you got a scratched cd.. For all they know you did it..0

Also recovery disks tend to be notoriously proprietary and if the shop doesn't have replacements then I guess it would end up them taking the £30 hit. What is the make of the laptop, maybe someone on here can find a cheaper recovery disk."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
