A Big List Of Car Problems

Hi, I bought an Astra Twintop under a HP finance agreement almost a year ago. Everything was fine up until about 2 months ago when things started going badly wrong with the car.

The first thing was when I parked the car to go shopping, returned and the rear window was wide open. I tried closing it but it just kept opening itself. A few days later I found the roof to be inoperable. I went away with the army for 2 weeks and returned to find that my boot had developed a leak and as a result my boot lining and windbreaker were pretty much covered with mould. A few weeks later I took the car for a service and was told that the manifold was on its way out. Now this weekend I was about to go home on leave when the boot stopped working, it won't let me in at all.

Since then I've also found out that I was lied to when I was sold the car about the 12 month warranty (it doesn't exist) and that my car has had 1 previous owners (it's actually had 2). I've been in touch with my finance company (Close) and as helpful as they are I don't seem to be getting anywhere with this.

Now I would take this up with the dealership, but they went into administration a few weeks after my car left their forecourt, so I'm not going to get any joy with them.

I really am at my wits end with this car, I'm getting nothing but trouble from it. To be honest I don't know what to think. Have I been mis-sold the car under the basis I have no warranty and the number of owners? Any advice on what I could do in this situation would be very much appreciated.

assuming you have documentary proof of what you say I'm pretty sure that the finance company are jointly responsible with the retailer for any problems. as the dealer has gone bust this means the finance company will pick up the bill.

Google Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and have a read or better still ring the finance company and mention it to them.

as you had a years warranty (shortly due to expire) I'd waste no time in getting all the faults documented and a written claim made.
