gas standing charge

Hi all

I'm with EDF for electric and gas.

I have a gas meter but never use any as I have no appliances on the basis that as soon as I get it taken out - I'll want a gas appliance - life's like that!

Anyway - I've never paid anything in terms of the gas meter.

EDF now decide they are changing the tarrif and charging me 19.72pence a day for it ! That's £70 odd quid a year for something I don't use.

They want to charge me £70 odd quid to remove it and an undefined sum if I want it reinstalled.

Any thoughts?

Regards

Switch to a no standing charge tariff. A duel fuel tariff would give you discounts on both fuels but you'll need to enter something in the comparison websites so just put 100kWh per year for the gas usage and whatever you use on the electric.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Fair enough. If you are unhappy (and don't want to pay to cut yourself off) switch your gas to another supplier who still provides a two-tier tariff (or Ebico with their tier 1 only tariff).

(You may have to perform more than one iteration on comparison sites to see whether it would be better to choose a dual fuel (two tier) tariff with another supplier or electricity only tariff.)

You have gas but are using elec to heat the house? Normally thats an expensive option and most people in all elec house would like the flexibility of gas for heating/hot water.
