Definitely include the maintenance. I would also include the son -- and talk it through if the IP raises it. It's better to go in high and drop from there than to sell yourself short and struggle needlessly.
  • Speka to Melanie Giles, no upfront fee's and very good
  • Hi, we went to the CAB to start with for advice, foggy is right they refer people onto Grant Thornton for IVA's. the CAB were v helpful,we'd never heard of a IVA until they told us about them. we then searched on the comparison site & decided on Melanie Giles.

our IVA was accepted in Feb 2011,it would have been BR without it.

if you're not happy don't sign anything.

try to read up as much as you can, post questions here.
    good luck

    Hello JD,

I am in an IVA which I sourced through the CAB some 4 years ago. I'm with Debt Free Direct (no upfront fee). I'm sure they're about as good as all other reputable providers. They WERE very helpful, however, when my circumstances suddenly changed and I had to reduce the amount I paid them each month (reduced payment from £360 to £157 per month, but had an extra year tacked on...).

My original debt was £28k. I know that an IVA is not for everyone and you should seek your own impartial advice - but for me an IVA was definitely the best way to go, and my financial life has certainly been a lot less complicated since I entered into it. (Jasper's blog recorded the day I had to have my IVA meeting...http://jasper-thedogsblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/saturday-28-july-2007.html).

Whatever you decide - good luck to you. Hope all goes well. x
