Can I reclaim my PPI charges

I wonder if anybody can tell me if I can reclaim the PPI charges I paid. I took out the loan of £7500 (paying back a lot more) over 4 years with Barclays Bank in 2004 or 2005. The person at Barclays setting up my loan asked about my employment status and I told him that I had a short-term contract for 2 years. He said I still would be covered and that it would be beneficial if I took out a PPI just in case I would lose my job. Was the PPI mis-sold to me or not and have I got a chance of claiming back those charges? Would Barclays have paid my loan when my contract came to an end and I wouldn't be able to find another job?
Thanks Tina

you would have to check the policy details but it is unlikely they would have paid out anything on a claim against it as you were on a short-term contract and I would say almost definately not at the end of the contract were you unable to find alternative work !
