    Just an update:

Flights have been booked for the end of May by FIL. I have pushed for wheelchair assistance and they seem to have finally understood that I need it. I'm not sure how flying will affect my M.E. It takes me ages to recover just from going shopping or for a walk etc. I've explained that to MIL and she accepts that I don't know how the flying will affect me. I'm quite apprehensive, for many reasons and I'm hoping that I feel maybe more excited closer to the time.:o

Just about the plane toilet thing - I agree re. getting OH to stand outside, but dare I suggest getting some adult incontinence knickers, just in case you can't face it when it comes to it? Then you won't have to worry about any accidents. I know it probably sounds like complete overkill, but may be one less thing to worry about.

Also, don't worry at all about using the wheelchair assistance at the airport - they are trained so will know that not everyone has "visible" mobility issues. My mum uses them because she has respiratory impairment but is "normal" to look at. They've always been really great to her. They can pick you up right from kerbside too if you ring them when you arrive (get dropped at arrivals if your relatives are taking and parking the car at Gatwick - it's a long walk/bus ride back to the terminal if using the long stay car park).
They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato
