Sealing around laminate flooring

Hi
I'm looking for a suggestion to seal around laminate flooring. I've just had a new kitchen fitted and have laid laminate in both the kitchen and the room next door which leads out into my back yard, the kitchen isnt a problem because i have gone underneath the skirting boards but i decided not to remove the skirting boards in the room next door, i just fitted as best i could up to the boards.
i have been left with a small gap of 5mm or so between the laminate and boards, the boards are anthracite grey by the way. i want to try and hide the gap and leave it tidy, my father in law has suggested i use black mastic, i have a tin in the shed but i'm afraid of making a mess as the room looks great at the moment! mastic is horrible stuff, can anyone suggest an alternative, must be black? or should i just go with the mastic....?

A coloured flexible sealant would be your best bet. Avoid mastic.0

I'm planning to use some beading on mine
No more nails'd to the exisiting skirting board!0 -
Beading, nothing else will do. Its neat and easy. No nails or pins.
Dont use mastic, its awful.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

What he said, you should be able to get scotia/beading to match the colour of the laminate - attach it to the skirting board so that the laminate is free to move. Silicone/mastic usually comes loose as the laminate is floating.0 -
ok, cheers for the replies0
