I don't know the story behind you cancelling the auction after it ended.
It could be that this creep of a buyer has had several winning auctions cancelled lately & is fed up with it.
Sellers sometimes claim that an item is lost, broken, sold elsewhere etc, as they aren't happy with the winning amount.
They must have agreed to a mutual or you wouldn't have received your FVF's back. They obviously played fair.
The only way to let other buyers know that you didn't go through with a sale is to leave neg FB. That way other buyers are at least aware that you may not deliver.
Why should they mention that they had a refund, to keep their money when you weren't sending the goods would possibly be fraud.
I'm not too sure why you would feel the need to leave -FB for this person, as they bid, won & paid.

    Matter is now closed. Thanks

Leaving bad FB for a buyer was a waste of time, as you don't choose your buyers, so unless you're going to look at the FB of every single person that bids on your auction, then remove anyone who has ever had a neg (and SERIOUSLY, who on earth has time to do that?!? Most people have a life!!), then what's the point??

The current system works well. Any buyers that don't pay receive a strike, and if they do it again, they can kiss goodbye to being allowed to bid on most ebay auctions!

Also, if a buyer does leave a neg, then all a seller has to do is respond to it calmly and state the facts. It is usually quite apparent who is telling the truth. I avoid any seller who has responded with capital letters, abuse, blame etc... but a negative would never put me off buying. I just bought from someone who had about 60% positive - the poor person had been left 5 negs by a buyer who quite clearly was a delusional nutter!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Because you know you're in the wrong? Why the should this buyer have gotten a retaliatory neg becuase of a flakey seller? It's exactly that sort of misuse that makes one way feedback necessary.

if you re read the original post both the seller and the buyer had mutually agreed that a refund would be ok, the seller got a refund of their FVF and the buyer got a full refund, the case was closed. Then the buyer left unwarrented negative feedback, thats hardly a flakey seller!!! a flakey seller is some one who sends a childs coat instead of an iphone!!!

and can i add, IMO i think sellers should still have the right to leave buyers neg feedback, in order to warn other buyers of potential problems, ie very late paying buyers etc etc etc.
That is my opinion, it seems that a lot of people on here are getting slated for having an opinion on a public forum! I think some people are just coming on here trying to cause arguments to pass time

Buyer might have agreed to allow the seller to reclaim their fees, but still be unhappy at the seller not selling.

I still don't see why any seller is these circumstances would want to leave a neg, what would the neg even be for? so the fact that we cannot do so any longer seems irrelevant.

I'm not sure what you think neg FB for a buyer would actually achieve, people with less than perfect FB would do as most people do already & snipe bid.
If they win & pay then the seller should send the goods. Or they will risk losing their accounts.
I think that stopping sellers from leaving a neg was brought about due to sellers similar to the one in the post above.
For whatever reason the seller after the auction end, didn't go ahead with the contract, the buyer had paid. Played fair, allowed the seller to receive a refund of his FVF's by agreeing to a mutual, then wanted to warn other buyers that the seller may potentially not carry through on the sale.
As a buyer I would like to know if a seller does that, I wouldn't waste my time with that seller but choose to buy from one with good FB.

Well I had a problem with an item I sold on ebay. The bidding ended and because there was a problem I refunded the seller its money with apologies. It was agreed that my final valuation fees would be refunded and thought no more about it. However this CREEP posted last night negative comments saying 'Revoked after bidding ended and paid for item'. He made no mention money was refunded within 24 hours. Today received an email from this creep now calling me a liar. I wanted to leave this thing feedback but unfortunately only works one way now. Because of this my 100 percent has gone down to 85 percent. I have now asked Ebay to close the account. Will be no loss as I seemed to do a lot better when i sell on Amazon.

That's why ebay changed the rules.
Non performing sellers leaving tit for tat feedback.
Such as insulting a buyer who pays promptly, and agrees a refund when you ask for a mutual.

You get only 100% feedback by performing 100%.
    (Much as the buyer did)

I agree with what has been said above. Sellers complaining about not being able to leave fb for buyers are the same who were leaving retaliatory feedback.
It very rare that you can actually leave meaningful and truthful negative feedback for buyers anyway, if you think you've been scammed, you normally cannot be 100% sure. Of if someone 'claims' the item has not arrived or is damaged we often hear sellers assuming straight away that they must be lying.

The only case would be non-payers, but we have NPB strikes for that.

Good sellers can deal with the occasional neg or neutral by leaving a good response that will tell the world that they can be trusted. Leaving retaliatory feedback has the same effect of those responses that make you run a mile instead of buying from that seller...

That's has always been the decider for me with "marginal" sellers.
    "Feedback left for others", or
"how do they handle it when it's gone wrong"
