Natwest Step Account - ID query?

Recently I applied for a Natwest Step Account online. They sent me the forms which I signed and sent back to them. There was no mention of sending in any ID so I expected them to ask me to take some in to my local branch once they've received the completed forms but...

...today I receive another letter stating that they've successfully processed my application, that my account's open and I'll receive my card and PIN shortly!

I thought you had to show 2 forms of ID to open an account? Yet I've shown them none and they've asked for none

    So what's the problem ??
Are you complaining they are too efficient ??

  • I don't see this an issue of them being too efficient.

I just querying it as I thought a bank had to ask for 2 forms of ID before they'll let you open an account. Is this correct?

There's no problem: if they want to let me open an account without proving who I am/where I live then fair enough. I just wondered why they didn't ask for any ID.

As said, you passed the electronic verification check.

  • I just assumed they also needed to see additional documents ie: passport etc.

Thanks for clearing that up for me!
