Ballymena Bourough Council have blue bins for paper and a red kerbside box has just been introduced for everything else. (I'm STILL waiting on mine cross.gif)

Ballymoney Borugh Council on the other hand, have blue bins which accept most things. Paper, cardboard, cans, plastics etc.

huntingdonshire council takes envelopes regardless of glue etc.. we have very little restrictions on the things we can or cannot recycle.. they do send out a newletter everynow and again telling you what you can recycle.. its also on a great big piece of paper glued to the inside of the bin lid.. we also have a direct contact number to ring if in doubt.. .. so if in doubt ring your local recycling department of the council as it seems all councils are different..my green bin is so full and there are only 2 of us in the house.. it also helps our council takes cardboard
Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear

Maybe I should buy a recycling bin and just leave it outside Dixon Park to see if Belfast City Council collect it. I get the feeling I'll be retired by the time Lisburn Council gets round to providing us with a bin. ;-)

It'd probably be less hassle to jump in the car and take your stuff round to the civic amenity site.

Yeah , but do not make a special trip. Do it when you are already going somewhere and save the planet as well as save your fuel. It should become part of your routine rather than something that you make a special effort or trip for

Do it on your way for the next weeks shopping ... take the packaging back when it is empty ..it should be easier than when you brought it home and it was full
DA why don't you email your local Council and ask what is to happen and when

Like I said previously in this thread, the wife phoned them, and they said we *might* get a recycling bin by the summer - maybe. It's not like Ballyskeagh is the middle of nowhere...

The rules have changed in North Down.

You can from April 1st put plastic bottles, cans and card into the blue bin :T

    BUT

Now you can't put shreded paper in

I didn't put my blue bin out this week because it wasn't full, so I thought I'd leave it til next month. Now I'll have to sort through it to take out all the shredded paper before the next collection.

If only they thought to tell you about a change before it was too late. Afterall they must have been planning this for some time.
Plenty of mistakes, but no regrets. :)

    Hi Simpson
We just got the information about this yeasterday ... after taking a couple of bin bags of empty bottles to the bottle bank at the weekend ... darn! I knew this was coming, just did not know when.

I must admit that I noticed the shredded paper bit and thought it was strange ... I am guessing that some pratts must have been shredding envelopes before putting them in the recycling bin. Remember you can always put the shredded paper in your free compost bin with your grass cuttings ... it works quite well. I have even heard rumour of one enterprising person who is selling the compost from their free compost bin and making a couple of quid out of it.
