Replacement car keys
I lost my keys about a month ago, including my car keys. I wondered if anyone knew of where to go to get repacement keys for my car (it's a Fiat Panda 09 model). So far I've been to Timpsons - who advised me that I'd have to go back to my retailer as they couldn't simply cut one for me. I called my car dealer and the price to replace it was £98! Phoned somewhere from the internet for a price and it was £120... Would love to leave it but my husband is getting a bit fed up not having his own key again.
Can't believe it could be so expensive...

Not really much you can do about it. Modern keys are full of fancy electronics to identify the key to the car, without which the car will unlock but not start. Supposedly it's harder to steal because you can't just pick or smash the lock the old fashioned way.
Only thing I can suggest is find a local independent auto-electrician / car-audio / car-alarm shop and ask if they can do it or recommend somebody to you. Even if said local shop looks like it only sells to chavs and boy racers it's still worth asking.0 -
Yes we had a Vauxhall which only came with one key and as a precaution we got another one cut. A chap trading within 15 miles of where we live came along in his van and did one for £35 + VAT.
Did the job...nothing fancy...but handy as a spare.
Good luck!:TWilkies50 -
Thanks for the replies, just looked up autolocks, unfortunately they were the £120 + Vat

Do you have a big market nearby? There is often a stall on our local big market (Blackbushe) that does them for around £65.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Leave the key in teh ignition and dont lock it. Sorted?
£98 is CHEAP!!!! Ford charge about £160.. Some manufacturers charge much more....Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
It's extreme (and that's putting it mildly) but you could probably go to a breakers and get a whole new lock set from a scrapped Panda, with more than one key..0

new panda wont be easy to clone
i reckon only a few locksmiths and dealer would be able to do it so pricey0
