Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could help.

I am looking to replace two of my garden walls with a fence (and gate).

The fence I want is a Slotted Posts and Panels one; i.e. wooden panels that sit upon a concrete panel within concrete posts. I would want a gate to match.

The walls in question are about 10 metres long and 3 metres long, I guess the would be about two metres high.

Can anyone give me an indication of how much I should be expecting to pay?

Additionally, I am hoping to 're-pave' my garden and also incorporate some decking at some point. Would I be best getting a quote for all the work from a landscaping company or doing each bit at a time. How much would I expect to pay for the lot. The decking would be say 2/3 sq. m at most and the paving is basically the garden path which will be 10 metres long by about 1m wide and say another sq m or so outside back door.

Feel free to ask questions, apologies for my naivety i've never had any garden based work done before!

Not a good idea to put fencing up and remove a solid wall, my fencing all got broken and had to be removed after the bad storms we had, it's going to cost a bomb to have a wall built. The fencing was 8 years old and was a professional job, guaranteed for 10 yrs, company now gone bust so no claims can be made.

My 'solid' wall is not particularly solid, I have removed several loose bricks. It also does not give any privacy.

i cannot imagine any company guaranteeing fencing for 10 yrs. the chances of claiming after 1 or 2 yrs will be zero.

You may find it's cheaper to have a close-boarded fence (vertical, over-lapped feather-edge planks) rather than
6ft wide fence panels - the lattrer requires posts at 6ft intervals, the former can have posts at 8 or even 9ft intervals. They are also stronger and last longer than a panel fence.
