Fixing badly-mounted blind

Our house's previous owner was a keen if incompetent DIY enthusiast, and most of his 'jobs' have come crashing down within a few months of us moving in. The latest disaster area is a badly mounted Venetian blind, which fell to earth yesterday.

I generally don't do DIY (largely to avoid this sort of mess) but would like to get this sorted. So what is the usual procedure if someone has drilled into a wall badly, caused the plaster to crumble and create a hole that's too big for the thing that it's meant to be supporting? (in this case, the blind). How do you fix the surface so that new holes can be drilled? I suppose we could make them higher, but it would look wrong in my opinion. Any thoughts?

  • Pack holes with matchsticks, fill the holes, leave to dry fully, drill deeper than previously, using the correct size bit, use rawlplugs and slightly longer screws than previously.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

he probably didnt drill deep enough. you have to drill into the brick itself.
drill a deep enough hole and then insert a rawlplug. fill around the plug and allow to set for a good few hours. a day is even better.
then afffix the blind assembly with the screws.
    Get some gorm.
