Hiya ll,

l'm after some advice on London Underground tickets please.

We're using our clubcard vouchers for a weekend in May (very MSE :money: ) but l haven't a clue what to do about tickets for the underground.....

It's a Friday-Mon break and we'll be travelling alot within Zone 1 possibly Zone 2 aswell.

There's 2 adults and one 4 year old? How is best to buy, daily or ???

Thanks in advance :A

Happy moneysaving all.

A one day off peak travel card will be £6.60 per adult each day. If you buy it at a rail station it will provide you with 2 for 1 offers http://daysoutguide.co.uk/2for1-london

A 7 day travelcard is £27.60 per adult - again rail station purchase gets you the offers. It's slightly more than 4 daily tickets but allows peak hour travel if needed - which I guess could only be Monday morning.

Your 4 year old travels free

You will doubtless get Oyster recommendations - unless you are likely to come back to London in future and have no use for the 2 for 1 it's more trouble than it's worth.

How are you getting to London?

Thanks dzugs, think it's best to get them everyday at the stations then, the 2 for 1 offers would be a bonus as we're going on the Eye, however it says on there only vaid until 30th April? Maybe they'll do another one after that date?

We're also doing an open top bus trip and that gives us a free river cruise ticket.

Thanks again dzugs, you're a star :A xx

We're coming down by train that's all sorted via Red Spotted Hanky, again through clubcard, Mr.T has been very helpful, free train, free accomodation and a free meal in bella italia so far.....

Don't get sucked in by Mr T, you have spent a fortune with him to get this "free" stuff.

i know this is off topic but have been wondering for a while. How do people use Tesco club vouchers? Is this the ones where you get a voucher for £2.50 or £5 to knock off your shopping at Tescos or something else. At the moment i have about £20 worth as I have been saving them up but don't know how to swap them for hotel rooms? - presumably I'd have to spend a lot more than I do currently

Generally - and I mean for the past several years generally - most of the offers will be renewed for the period up to October. Some will be dropped, some will be added.

BUT if you are travelling by train to & from London then you can use your train tickets to get the offers - you have to ensure though that you have both outward and return tickets to hand when you use the offers. This means that if you see an automatic barrier when arriving in London then you have to find a manned barrier instead.

In this case you won't need to get Travelcards at a train station - you can either use Oystercard PAYG or one day Travelcards bought anywhere.
  • Hello,
Please do not dismiss having a look at the oyster card.It costs £3(unless it's gone up)for the card but you can give it back and get a full refund at the end and there is all sorts of advantages with using it including registering it so you can sort things out if you were to lose it.If you are only travelling within a couple of zones it may well work out cheaper. The way it works is that it 'caps' the amount it charges,so once you have used it up to a certain amount then the rest of your journeys are free.A lot of those 2 for 1 deals you can get using your train ticket you used to get to London, and last time I was looking at them I realised you could just claim the 2 for 1 things quite often without any ticket at all.
You would need to have a good look around the oyster card website to suss out the deals, you can put a weekly travelcard onto an oyster card.
Not many people really buy the paper/card tickets any more, they are completely outdated, most people use oyster cards

The offers will continue after 30 April - maybe a few new ones and a few old ones dropped
Whether the Eye will be included I don't know. A few are winter only.

This link tells you what you can exchange your Tesco vouchers for, just click on any of the links on the Tesco's Clubcard rewards or click 'see more rewards' and its will tell you how to exchange points for whatever you selected.

For cheaper train tickets via Redspottedhanky then it's this link.
For Hotels then it's this link.

    Hiya ll,

I normally buy my Travelcards before I go from here.

Oyster card is cheaper and more convenient, unless you have a teenage children then there's the added hassle of getting a photocard oyster.

The Eye offer alas ceases after 30 April - at least for the summer.
