Changed to Electric Cooker From Gas - Should I Wait to Switch Provider?
Options
Hello to all,
This may be a silly question (and in a moment I am going to admit to something even dafter), but I wonder if someone can offer a bit of advice...
I have never changed utility providers from the old 'electric/gas board' for my local area (that's the daft bit!), and have been planning to do it but never got past the comparison stage for some reason.
So, having decided to get on with switching, I have gone and changed my main cooking method from all gas to an electric oven/gas hob. Assuming that cooking would take up a fair percentage of my gas bill, my question is, would I still get an accurate comparison of my overall bill using the 'old data' or should I wait until I have had a couple of bills based on the change in proportion of gas and electricity?
Any help gratefully received.
Thanks
Darren

Do you have gas heating? As if you do then the cooker is only going to be a small proportion of your gas bill and you might as well go ahead. Compared to gas boilers, cookers really don't use that much...I am an employee of British Gas, however the views expressed on this post are mine and do not necessarily reflect the views of Centrica, its subsidiaries or affiliated companies.0

Thanks for the quick reply - Yes we do - no individual fires, just condensing combi boiler fired radiators/hot water0

Just go ahead. You've wasted enough money already! What I do is try the comparison site with a few different usage figures, a medium one and then one a bit higher and one a bit lower. So far it seems to always give me the same supplier as the cheapest which makes the decision easy.0
