  • Our registrar is actually based in the church (actually the cathedral) so not sure on the cost for that (if there even is one).

With regards the bridesmaids, 2 are kids so should be fairly cheap, and i think the MOH will pay for her own dress or split it with us. She can get her own shoes as well! Don't think W2B is bothered about jewellery (she already has some that mean a lot to her, so she'll probably wear that) or new shoes (as you can't see them under the dress anyway). I would hope the veil will be purchased at the same time as the dress!

If we can't get the cake for that much I will look at being creative (don't understand why 4 cakes cost say £20 but a 3 tier one costs £200!)

T2bG, thanks so much for that, it's extremely helpful. I will keep you updated on our costs.

Just had a quote and car cost is now down to £250 + nice taxi (usual fare probably £15 so maybe £30)

I've left out invites and centrepieces as the invites we'll do ourselves for next to nothing, and the centrepieces we could also do ourselves for very litte, will leave that to see how much £ is left nearer the time!

Mayasie, that's very helpful thanks. Anything to do with flowers will ultimately be W2B's call (sadly) but it looks good to me, and encouraging that it can be done for a lot less than £600!

    Hi there
I went to the bridal fayre in the floral pavillion 10th April and there was a woman there doing flowers, basically you give her your budget and she'll do the flowers you want around that. Average £300. My flowers are coming in at £255 and that's with 1 bride, 2 bridesmaids, groom, best man, father of the bride and groom, 80 buttonholes and 2 corsages for the mothers. That's from a florists in Greasby, Wirral.
It can be done for well under £600 :)

Ah - didn't realise that you were having a church wedding (ours is civil). I imagine it will be a lot cheaper - especially if you go to the church regularly. They might just want a donation.

    Well done on the cars!!

I'd check with W2B about jewellery & shoes (just in case...!) - us girls can be very particular about these things!

Cake - from what I understand, the cost is about the time it takes to create, rather than the cost of the ingredients. If you want handmade sugar roses that take hours to perfect, it will take a lot more expensive. You can find lots of advice on here about stacking cakes etc, so you should be fine.

We are getting our wedding cake from M & S and our florist is decorating the top with flowers which cost from £18 depending on what we want. You can get the cakes in store, we picked up a small fruit one to try and it was lovely. They do sponge too and anyone we have spoken to raves about them too. They are very affordable and look great so it may be worth comparing against anything you get done professionally or the cost and stress if you did it yourselves.
