Number of Bank Accounts

Hi,
Interested in others peoples opinions on this.
Currently have three current accounts, main one which is used for wages and DDs and a couple of others that aren't really used anymore.
How many current accounts do you have, do you use them all?
Are there any benefits to keeping them open by just putting a token amount in a month? Would it help with applying for other products from the same bank? Or would it be best to close them and just maintain the main one?

I have 2. One for general spending, one for bills.
I am pretty sure YorkshireBoy holds the record and has about 7/8.0 -
I have 11. And yes, I do use them all, but most of them only for the specific purpose for which I opened them (eg to qualify for and/or feed a regular saver etc).
I can say with confidence that this figure will be beaten within the hour....0 -
Not by me, I have one and a spreadsheet

I have two current accounts. Halifax for my main account which I opened nearly a year ago. I also have an old account with Barclays which I opened 14 years ago when I was student. No longer use it, but keep it as it still has a £1k overdraft which is cheaper than my current overdraft. Also I've had a few savings accounts with Barclays, so the online banking was handy. Closed my A&L current account five month ago after I moved to Halifax to avoid the underfunding fee.0

I have 2 current accounts, my main one with Natwest which all my payments go into, and all my bills come out of, and also a Halifax Reward account, which I use to "feed" my Halifax Reward ISA, and also for my monthly spends, so I use both accounts equally.Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0

Only ten current accounts at the moment, for similar reasons to those given by Biggles in post #3.0

I'm into double figures - similar reason to Biggles. In addition, some of the accounts that are effectively inactive were opened with good intentions and switching in mind, only to find that there were annoyances (usually with their online banking or Faster Payments) that meant that I would not wish to use them as a main account. They are left open only in case they come in useful for future savings accounts and/or whatever I don't like about them is corrected in a future upgrade or change in Faster Payments, but they will be culled at a convenient time.0

Five (soon to be four):
- Halifax Rewards joint acct - £5 pcm benefit, household budgeting and bills
- HSBC joint acct - replaced by (1); to be closed shortly
- Barclays bank acct plus - for my wages, some personal DDs and spending
- HSBC current acct - had since my student days. Just a back up should Barclays !!!! up!
- Barclays Golden ISA Issue 3 - competitive tracker rate of 3.25%

Quite easily, you dont have to pay your salary in to open a current account. Accounts that have funding requirements, can be met easily just by paying money in from another accountDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0
