The cotton is obviously NOT prewashed should probably be expected to shrink. Just like Denims used to be.
Really need to buy a bigger size.0 -
My Bosch washing machine has a 'SuperQuick' wash/rinse/spin program that takes 15 minutes in total with a default temperature of 30C and spin of 800.
I expected it to be just a 'freshen-up' program for clothes that you've just worn for a couple of hours but it was a very aggressive (iykwim) wash and shrunk 2 tops which said OK at 40C.
Could that be the problem?
I don't know about your machine, but quick washes often work by filing from the hot and cold taps. This means that the temperature approaches 30 (or what you set) from the hot side (could easily be 50degrees+ initially). So it can easily shrink a cotton garment. This is why washing machine manuals often state that the quick wash should only be used for colour fast items, which can be washed at high temperatures.0 -

I know that this is going off-topic, but I think my machine is cold-fill only. It's a fairly new model.
I remember my OH had to blank off one of the exisiting pipes.
And as I said earlier, the default setting for this program is 30C.
It doesn't say anywhere in the manual only to use on colourfast items, just that the program is suitable for washing lightly soiled items and for thorough rinsing (without adding detergent).
It just seemed to give the clothes a right good chuck about and I wondered if this may have caused the shrinkage.
Re Hintza's comment about the cotton should be expected to shrink:
I can agree with this (remembering sitting in the bath in my Levis & Wranglers many years ago ) but surely there should be some sort of warning about buying a larger size to avoid this happening.0 -
We have a couple of the replica vintage stoke shirts here (Stan one, Ricoh etc) and have to say none of them have shrunk and they have all been washed half to death on what my ancient machine deems a fast wash.
Which club shop did you go back to? The one at the ground? There are 2 other club shops (Newcastle and Hanley) so it may be worth trying to return it to one of those first?0
