One of the most useful threads I've ever read. I've had a similar problem recently and this is invaluable. I received no bill for 2 years despite enquiries with companies to who I was with. I am now being chased for debt that I tried to never have.

the fact is - they have failed to bill you for ELECTRICITY therefore you are entitled to only be billed for one year!!!
But they were 'billed' it said "Your prepayment meter balance is a £XX". At a guess they have received over 20 bills saying this yet they have not thought to query this or the fact there was no elec element to the bill with the supplier. Therefore I dont think the Back Billing Code will apply because there is an onus on the customer to check there bills.

The 12 month back-billing clause in the billing code does not apply when you initially move into a house.

If you wrote a recorded delivery letter to the company(that are now chasing you) saying you were now their customer, you would have a case.
