Barclays Card Direct Debit

anyone else having issues with Barclays Credit Card nowadays?
I have a credit card issued by Barclays and direct debit with their current account and the monthly payment was going smoothly when they cancelled the direct debit for no reason and charged me for late payment. Its showing 1 late payment on my credit history as well and I had to take it as it is. Later on i set up direct debit once again and after 2 months they cancelled direct debit once again so another late payment was charged.
Both late payments are showing on my credit history and I wonder if i hadn't instructed them to cancel direct debit how can they do that? and why they keep charging me fee for late payments when I have intentionally set up the direct debit for their credit card.
Anyone else experiencing similar issues from Barclays?

I haven't been having this issue, but I would suggest setting up a standing order instead, or paying the bill by debit card when it falls due.0

but standing order means the bank can only take fixed amount and the monthly payment does vary each month. I wanted to keep it "minimum payment" due to my financial issues but the bank cancelled direct debit for at least twice... so...
Now I have raised up my queries with Equifax after obtaining the credit report so lets see what they can do to settle this issue0 -
I doubt Equifax can do anything as they only report on the information as it is provided to them.
Your complaint needs to be with Barclays. I would try your bank account first and ask for the reason the DD was cancelled. If it turns out it was cancelled by BarclayCard, then you need to pursue it with BarclayCard - registering a complaint if necessary - unless they claim they cancelled it because of insufficient funds...My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

I haven't had exactly the same issue, but I had a direct debit fail despite it saying it was set up on their online system apparently it wasn't! They then said "human errors happen"!! If it hadn't told me it was set up I would have paid it myself rather than expecting it to be paid by direct debit.
I had the £12 charge refunded and have reassured that the interest will remain at the low for life level it was on before, but I'm still waiting to find out once the next statement arrives as I don't believe them until I see it. But nothing I can do about the credit rating.
Hope yours gets sorted.0 -

Well Equifax assured me they will launch an inquiry with Barclays and if there is any direct debit cancelled without a valid reason they may revoke the late payment footprints from my credit report. Besides that they have rights to write a special note alongside the late payments and I think if they attach my statement with the report it might be helpful for some lenders to know that facts about the missed payments regardless of the outcome of this dispute.
I am not bothered about the late payment penalty but i have worked hard to keep my account up to date since 2007 when 3 payments were missed because i had no money to pay them. Since then all my payments has been going successfully but barclays cancellation of direct debit has put on back foot once again. I would be more than happy to settle this case if they charge me a small sum but remove these late payments notices so that i can continue keeping my accounts up to date. See it was a difficult struggle of 4 years to make the payments before due date and suddenly this barclays hassle has downgraded my credit history drastically and i think i am not at fault.0 -

My understanding was that only the financial institutions/banks can add and update data to your credit report. I would imagine that all Equifax will do is ask BarclayCard to verify that the record is correct - I wouldn't think that Equifax will investigate the details of the account themselves.Besides that they have rights to write a special note alongside the late payments and I think if they attach my statement with the report it might be helpful for some lenders to know that facts about the missed payments regardless of the outcome of this dispute.
This is call a "notice of correction" and is a short statement provided by you to Equifax, explaining the reason for a particular late payment (or series of late payments). This then gets attached to that particular account and means that whenever you apply for credit in future, all decisions will be referred to the underwriters who will review the note you have added.
I do hope you manage to get this sorted out, but I would still maintain that you need to establish the reason the direct debit was cancelled by firstly querying it with your bank and then, if applicable, with BarclayCard - raising it as a "formal complaint" - meaning that they then have eight weeks to respond and if you are not happy with their final response, then you can take the complain to the FOS.My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

P.S. You also need to see what has been reported to Experian and CallCredit - the two other CRAs.My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.
