Fixed assets as part of an investment portfolio

I have been speaking with my financial advisor about rebalancing my investment portfolio.
Broadly speaking my current portfolio consits of a lot of cash and about 15% in a variety of funds.
I am looking to divert some of the cash into something else and my advisor has suggested a look at putting a further sum into fixed asset investments.
These are generally investments which relate to an actual physical asset e.g. containers, solar, wind farms, cargo planes.
Anyone have any experience of this or could recommend sources of further reading?

Money won't buy you happiness....but I have never been in a situation where more money made things worse!

I've always fancied a bit of woodland. Even if the tax advantages were removed, and the trees proved unprofitable, I could at least enjoy the woodland as a place. My notion has me fencing it against deer and rabbits, but perhaps grazing the clearances with cattle. A man can dream.Free the dunston one next time too.0

And not just any cattle: Highland cattle - gentle beasts that look superb.Free the dunston one next time too.0

Or llamas: how about grazing it with llamas?Free the dunston one next time too.0
