Tile adhesive colour?

I'm shopping for tile adhesives and what I don't understand is why there is a variety of colours (grey, white, ivory etc) for adhesives if they are going to be completely covered up by the tile anyway?
I know nothing

Because you are probably looking at the combined adhesive and grout.

I'm only aware of white and grey adhesive and the different colours are required as grey adhesive can be seen ghosting through some pale tiles, mainly stone such as travertine but i have seen pictures of the same happening with a cream polished porcelain. If you're using a pale grout (white/cream) grey adhesive can show through if the joints aren't kept clean when laying.
I also use white adhesive with glass tiles as it can show through at certain angles.

Some of the mosaic tiles are glass so you do need coloured adhesives to present the tiles to there best advantage.
(sorry just noticed the above reply, just to slow a typing today)
