Weekends we have HM soup on Saturdays (or bread & cheese). Curry at night - made with quorn & HM korma style sauce.
Sundays it is usually a gammon or chicken 'dinner' & then whatever is around in the evening (taramasalata, tuna, prawns if we're flush, egg mayo if we're not)
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Home-made soup and a sandwich. Sandwich and some salad. Toasted cheese. Hummus and pitta bread. Some fruit. A bit of quiche and salad. Maybe some potato salad if I can be bothered to make it

For a family it might be better to make up a bunch of snacky-type or buffet-style items so people can help themselves rather than being waited on hand-and-foot all day.

We often have tomato soup from a tin (quick) and homemade bread (from bread maker) or homemade soup.

My OH also likes toasted crumpets with slither of butter and laughing cow on top or parmasan cheese (you don't need much parmasan).

I also love frankfurters. Not from the tin, but the ones from the fridge department.

Cheese on toast for OH, and jacket potato for me (OH is not fan).

Left overs from the night before.

    Hi rach,

At weekends we sometimes have a cooked brunch at around 10.30 and then don't eat again until our evening meal. There is usually a pot of soup on the go for anyone who gets the munchies in between. Otherwise, these are some of the things I make:

soup (leftover portions from freezer) and a sandwich
    hotdogs
    tuna, cheese and salad wraps
baguette with (value) bacon and brie
cheese on toast (with extra bits added to make it more like a mini pizza)
    garlic mushrooms on toast
ham or chicken salads made with leftovers and crusty bread.
smoked salmon mousse with wheaten bread (cheap if you by salmon bits)
    liver pate and toast
    toasted sandwiches
    pannini (made in George Forman)
boiled eggs, omelette, poached eggs on toast

At the moment the children are off of holidays so today I've had leftover cottage pie, dd has had a bacon and brie roll and the boys had blt sandwiches and a pot noodle each. :o We each made our own because we are all up to different things today. If we were all sitting down together it would probably have been a salad or eggs of some sort.

On weekdays when I'm not working I usually have leftovers from the night before (or freezer surprise from the 'leftover basket' in the freezer), sandwiches, scrambled eggs, omelette, baked potato, cheese salad etc.

This thread has more ideas that may help:

ideas for lunch at home (not packed)

I'll add this thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

  • HM soup and a basic sandwich, something and salad sandwich or leftovers. Occasionally I'll make pasta or something basic from scratch depending on my plans :-D

Leftovers, soup, quick salads, anything quick! I dislike having a second carby/bready meal (like a sandwich) for lunch, but still like to keep it quick. I tend to make a big batch of soup/stew once every week or two to eat for lunches/freeze. There always seems to be something lying around to eat
