Would someone please advise on Sat Nav for France and UK and using Tesco vouchers double-up? I'm toying with the idea[leaving near midnight tonight via Tunnel]. I have £100 available.[CC+ holder, so will gain extra points]
I like using maps, also use routefinder print-outs if necessary.
Is a cheap Tesco Satnav worthwhile?
Thankyou for any last-minute advice.

to be honest i have a cheapy sat nav and it works a treat, ok it might not be the speediest, it might not have bluetooth and all the extra bells and wistles but so far it has got me to my destination (give or take a house or 2) everytime i have used it (use a navman f35)
just remember which ever sat nav you look at it needs to be a europe one so having quickly looked on tesco direct this looks to be reasonable http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.209-8274.aspx although saying that for £120 you can get a tom tom eu one http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.209-0777.aspx
what ever check out some reviews from different places to see what the genral comments are
edited to change model number of the sat nav i own since couldnt remember exactly which one it was just that it was a navmanDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
That is just the sort of reply and advice level I can follow - thankyou so much gonzo.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

haha no problem, just one thing to point out, which a surprisingly large amount of people dont seem to remember, a sat nav does not replace your brain
use it to compliment your brain and any printed maps you have
- i usualy use the sat nav to get me there, however i also have a local map printed from google as extra cover, this is due to a small mishap with a tom tom a few years back where the post code provided for the (country) hotel actually took me to a road which ran down the side of the grounds but the sat nav wouldn't have it that the road that you had to drive down to get to the hotel actually had the entrance in another post code anyways it required a large amount of driving down some tight country roads to get to a place that i could turn around and go back and try the other roads to find the entranceDrop a brand challenge

Ah, gonzo - you sound my sort of wise re: such things. Yes, I do prefer my brain and have used it to great effect all around world over long years. It does help if you're blessed with a natural bump of direction, so that's lucky too. I'm amazed that people don't look more to sky/sun for pointers on NSEW etc. Depends on upbringing and being encouraged in self-reliance, I suppose...I'm a kiwi and my childhood was full of adventuring and exploring.
We've all read about satnav disasters and there's a great thing on here somewhere - a google linky, I think - about directions from the Eastern seaboard of the States somewhere, to somewhere here, which instructs Do this, Do that, Go here, Go there, enter water, swim xhundred kilometres....someone will remedy my ragged telling of it, unless you know it already.
It's surprising how uncommon common sense is!
Thanks - I really did appreciate your straightforward help, without techie-babble overload.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
