Tune Samsung TV to digital

We have a Samsung TV which is supposed to have built in freeview. We have a DTV option on the menu screen, but when we choose DTV, all it says is "no channels found" then a "No signal" picture bounces round the screen. On the menu screen I should be able to chose a picture of a satelliete dish to tune the channels in. This works on analogue TV, but for some reason it won't actually let me click on it, at all!

Any ideas?

I just got a Samsung with freeview on it and just put the Aerial into it and switched on and it scanned for the channels and found them. Can you receive digital channels ? My Samsung works on Analogue channels as well.

The AV button only changes it to the HDMI cable plug in, etc. I can get the DTV screen up, just won't let me scan for channels.

It should receive digital channels, and our area switched over today, so no analogue channels now. The TV downstairs has Sky, so we do still have TV, but the one upstairs doesn't so at the moment it's a glorified monitor!

Which TV have you got , is there a D.Menu button on the remote ?

Hi OP, chances are the set has never been tuned in to DTV.

On your remote press the main menu button.
Scroll up or down to country, find autostore and follow the prompts.

If that fails your aerial probably needs looking at.

There may have been a D Menu button, but OH lost the remote (I can definitely say it was him - he lost it before I moved in!), so we're using a replacement.

Penrhyn, I can't find anything on the menu that says country, or autostore. But you are right, the set has never been tuend to DTV, it was working fine with analogue channels until the switch over today, so not sure it would be the aerial.

When you tune it in, you need to select "air" instead of "cable" for the source. Very counter-intuitive, but it'll work.

That will be the problem then, universal remotes seldom have the functionality of the manufacturers remote.
You could try borrowing a Samsung remote off a friend if they have a Samsung TV, if the set is not too old it should be compatible.

have you searched down the back of the sofa, or looked under the bed? :eek:

You still have not said which TV model it is , I would suggest that your read the manual, but of course the OH used that to wipe.... never mind , I'll get my sunglasses and sit back outside the pub again
