Where's my "Buy It Now" gone?

Hi, thanks for looking and hopefully helping.

When I sell items on eBay I usually setup an Auction with "Buy It Now".

However, whenever I do this and a bid is placed, each time the "Buy It Now" option disappears. I can never find an option to make the "Buy It Now" remain in place after a bid is placed.

What's annoying is I have to pay extra for "Buy It Now"!

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

Once a bid is placed you can no longer offer the BIN option and it always disappears!
I find that if I offer both options someone is usually quick to place a bid in to keep the item available!

You would have to set a reserve (min £50) to retain the Buy Now option. It would only go when the reserve is met.
  • Ive found that if i bid on something with BIN then the BIN no longer shows to me but, if I log into my other account and view the item the BIN is still there, just not available on the account that made the bid. I could be wrong, I am in no way an expert on these things, but this has been my experience.

No you obviously have a glitch. As the others have said a BIN disappears as soon as a potentially winning bid has been placed.

The fees you pay on a reserve can be pretty high (depending on category) and you pay these if you sell or not. So normally better to put your start price at your minimum selling price.

    Hi there

If you know what sort of price you want for your item then why not run a buy it now or best offer, rather than an auction with a buy it now option on there, or have i misread you opening post.

Just checked back on your opening post, i had read right, as you say you pay to add a buy it now price but where it is an auction too as soon as someone places a bid your buy it now will dissapear, and as others have said setting a reserve price is costly too.

I would pay 40p to run the auction at buy it now or best offer if you know what price you want for the item.
  • A buy it now price always disappears if a bid has been placed however a buy it now can still be added if you wish to let the highest bidder have a buy it now price but you cannot give that option to any of the other bidders ONLY the highest bidder. The other option which is unfair is to end the listing and relist it again with a buy it now but obviously that will incur costs. I have found that the best and cheapest way to list on E Bay is to list items at 99p which does sound risky but if you know the value of the item you are selling then it is very unlikely it will sell at 99 p unless that is all it is worth ! If you search for an item such as a leather jacket for instance, check the completed listings on the left hand side of the page in question and it will tell you how much they have sold for and by clicking on the item you can see the starting price which is a good pointer to the value. Hope this helps
