No, if you agreed to buy them subject to inspecting them, then I don't think you are committed - however - you would then have to ask him to take them away, co-operate with him doing so and, as someone else said, he knows where you life.
If they are reasonably servicable, and/or you are using them, I would just pay him and have done with it. Its really not worth the aggrevation.I am a Mortgage Adviser

I don't think you are committed to them. he can't take you to court with no evidence, what if you claimed you thought they were included in the house price?
The correct thing to do would have been not to use them if you don't want them. Now you could offer £75 as they were not as new as you were expecting. Depends who wins!
