LA search, usually, I think. The water etc are often very quick....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

My solicitor told me the other day that most of the searches are done on line now and take about 48 hours.
The one which undoubtedly will take the longest is the local authority one. In my case West Berks, will take about 2 weeks.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
I agree, the local search varies between a day or two (at best) - I think the record is 13 minutes - and up to 6 weeks in some places. Every Council is different.
Drainage searches can take about a week in some places.
Environmental Searches usually come back in hours but if there is a possible problem then the data has to be looked at by an environmental consultant before the result comes through so this can take a few days to a week.
The fees quoted in the first post are about right. i assume the purchase is of a property between £100,001 and £200,000 for which £200 is the applicable LR Fee.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0
