Hello
Im going through a renewal and got a few quotes through go compare.
The prices are quite good but all with companies that either I never heard of before or never used. Can you please advice which would be best, they all offer the same covers/excess etc I m asking on a customer service point of view.
Thanks
BG Insurance (Barry Grainger) **Cheaper
One Call
Kwik Fit Platinum
Dial Direct
Yes Car Insurance
M&S (which I have used before, paperwork was jargon free and easy to rad, but never made a claim) ** More expensive
Many thanks
Also I have just completed a comparethemarket form and the same insurance like BG / Dial Direct and One Call came at aroud £100 more with the exact same details and level of cover

It depends what what you want.
I only use companies I've heard of, but I have full ncd, and I'm old and live in sleepy hollow.
If you are at the other end of the scale, and need insurance to be legal, with no intention of moving, making a claim, changing car etc, go for BG.
They'll still give you a years ncd, and even if you hit someone, then they won't but whoever you hit will have to deal with them, not you.0 -
I also like to know who I am dealing with. I found Direct Line by far the best for my marginally complex requirements.0

I obviously need an insurance to be legal (who doesnt?
and have NO intention of moving home/ work/ make a claim (intentionally) etc..
I dont live in the inner city and I have 7 years NCB (had DL for more than 7 years but was only a second name driver or riding a bike). Have only ever made 1 claim not at fault (costs fully recovered as hit from behind) but I still want them protected and the quotes I got are for Protected NCB.0 -
Old thread i know but would like to let people know i have just had my policy cancelled by Barry Grainger, and that has done me a big favour. My monthly payments are now over £10 cheaper and my new insurer is a proper household named one. Barry Grainger, i felt, misrepresented their policy and for me to have cancelled, they would want £75 for their fees. BG ask for copies of your drivers licence even when DVLA has given them all relevant details at your request, then hound and harrass you with letter after letter threatening to cancel your insurance if they dont receive hard copies. I did not send them as there were some old endorsements on from 8 years previous and which they had no right to see, and as it was them who cancelled my policy for no real reason, should i bill THEM with a cancellation fee because after all it BG who broke the contract.0

I stand to be corrected but you now need to answer yes when loking for insurance to the question:" have you had insurance cancelled?".
I am afraid that could have dire consequencies for you.You can have God without religion!0 -
To add to my last post, I did tell my current insurer the full details of the BG saga including why they felt the need to cancel my policy, and they contacted BG for confirmation of my built up no claims bonus. As the cancellation was not related to any kind of fraud or false details there was no grounds to be refused new insurance, and my new premium was lower which shows you dont always get topped up for having a previous policy cancelled.0

Until you need to claim then these fact will be new to them and they knew nothing of them. Declined for non disclosure.
Dont pay out unless you really have to. Seems to work for some (most)? of them.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
