Hi guys,
bit of advice needed about the buying process. My partner and I are FTB so we're new to this process & a bit confused. I'll fill you in to where we are up to:
-We had an offer accepted on a property 3 weeks ago, agents informed us that the seller had no property to move to so was going to start looking or move into rented.
-Already had an AIP from the bank so made a formal application the following day.
-Instructed the solicitors the next day also.
-Bank sent us forms to complete a few days later, this took approx 5 days to send back as we had to wait for OH's P60.
-Forms were sent back 12 days ago, no contact from the bank currently.
-Agents rang on Friday asking had we arranged a survey, we informed them we were going though the bank & awaiting to hear which they were happy with.
-Agents rang back again today asking about the survey, saying that we were holding up the chain! We had no knowledge that we were in a chain as they had told us otherwise. :wall: They did not seem happy to accept that we were waiting for the bank.
-Tried ringing the bank to chase the survey but the person dealing with our application was unavailable.
My question really is: Have we done something wrong here?
Should we have been chasing the bank earlier or are the agents just being pushy?
We're a bit confused as to what else we could be doing
Thanks!

they are being pushy, mortgages take time. The bank will require surveys before they agree to the loan, in recent years many banks have valued the properties (and as in my case, the property was simply not valued at the price we offered.) therefore it could fall through.
Ask the EA if there is a chain and if so why were you not informed, kick off a little and they may backoff a little :0)
I would pester the bank a little, but don't take any s*** of the EA0 -
Thanks, puts my mind at ease a bit.
Just been stressing because everyone (family etc.) keeps asking 'have you you heard anything about the flat?' and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be hearing!!!
The bank did tell us it would be 4-6 weeks to process the application so I wasn't concerned we hadn't heard anything until the agents contacted us.0 -
I'm sure you would have told the vendor/EA that you'd be financing the purchase through a mortgage so I'd just reiterate this. Say that you got the application in very quickly and these things just take time. It's not in your hands.0
