Paypal Credit Card (Formerly GE Money, now Santander) advice needed!

Hey there~ I'll cut right to the chase. I was hoping some of you could give me some advice with a problem I have with my former Paypal CC. I paid the card off and closed the account in August 2009. Or at least, I thought I did! decided to get my credit report recently and I noticed it shows as settled but is still active!
I just tried to call the customer service department but not having the credit card number or account number anymore or most of the details he wanted to know, didn't make the already hard to understand call centre easy to tolerate and in the end the slow pakistani guy couldn't verify me as the account holder due to lack of information.
How can I cancel this card once and for all? now I know having a credit card is a good thing to report it but I want it gone incase I ever want a Santander CC in the future but mostly just to reduce the overall credit shown on my credit report.
Any advise to help me towards that end would be greatly appreciated. Thanks~

Find the registered address for it and write to them asking for them to cancel the account and confirm that to you in writing. Give your name and address and the date you stopped using the card, they should be able to do it for you in writing, if not over the phone.Aiming to be debt & mortgage free by November 2018!0

Thanks for your reply, Mrs Jojo.
I've had a look at the paypal section of Santander's website and this is what I've found; "Credit is provided by Santander Cards UK Limited, 2 Triton Square, Regent's Place, London NW1 3AN. Registered in England and Wales. Registered Number. 1456283. PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l et Cie. S.C.A. Registered Office: 22-24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449, Luxembourg. R.C.S Luxembourg B 118 349."
Would I be correct in assuming that the bolded part is where I'd write my letter to?0 -
Also sent a email to Experian / Equifax / Call Credit they will add a notice of correction & contact the lender as well! (to ask if it's settled)Can I find out my credit score? You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)0

Doesn't settled mean that the card has been closed down?
Closed credit card still shows on your credit file as "Settled" as far as I'm aware...0
