So annoyed with myself. Again. Need advice..

Hi,

I was called up end of last week by clearview finance who said they could help me. Told me i was in financial hardship and they accepted me onto their plan for 177 a month. first two payments were going to be for 212. then the third month 177.45 until the end of the agreement - (for however long that would be for couldnt tell me then which i thought was off) anyway, after coming here and calling the CCCS they said (which i also agree to) why pay a fee when it could be put towards my debts.

So ive called Clearview to cancel the agreement - which CCCS told me it wasnt legally binding.

I have since called my bank and gone through every penny which comes in - goes out - and becuase i have a £300 a month disposable income - they said (and this is first direct) this is what the CCCS would do and i wouldnt qualify as i can already make higher payments - at the moment i make minimum to 5 credit cards.

I have no idea who to turn to - what to say - how to explain how i got into debt.

Ive changed bank accounts now as i have an overdraft with first direct so i will pay that off monthly - new account doesnt have an overdraft. and i will make extra payments to credit cards - my question -

can i write to each credit card company and ask them to freeze interest or something?? Anything..

Ignore First Direct, as they are a wunch of bankers and bankers tell lies.

If CCCS tell you that you'd not qualify, then you may need to use another service, but do not allow that wunch of bankers at First Direct to put you off - they are actually scared of CCCS as CCCS cannot be bullied.

    Hi

I am totally confused by your post.

Why are you ringing first direct about your DMP?

Have you accepted a DMP with CCCS instead of Clearview?

if not, what have you done?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • im so confused :(

I started the proceedings with Clearview - but lost my bottle - they were going to charge me £35 a month each month (first two payments £212.45 - then the third & onwards £177.45 - which includes the 35 a month..)

I called CCCS who said if i did a DMP with them they wouldnt charge - so more of the money i pay would go to my debt.

I called first direct becuase even though they are a bank - i have always maintained a good 'relationship' with them and wanted to know if they could offer me any advice, - as i have an overdraft and credit card with them..

I just dont know who to turn to - and who to listen to - as everyone is telling me different.

What you need to do next is to call CCCS again and to go through your income & expenditure with them. Then they'll tell you whether you would qualify for a DMP and whether it would be appropriate for you. If they say its not suitable for you because you have sufficent income to meet your repayments then perhaps consider posting your statement of affairs on here an people will be able to advise and make suggestions for you making cut backs/budgeting and organising your finances best to clear your debts and pay the least amount in interest etc.

You are right to have set up a new bank account elsewhere in the meantime.

I'd suggest posting up a proper Statement of Affairs that Tixy suugested back in January. if the good people on here can see the full picture then offer advice.

One thing though, i'd take CCCS advcie over First direct anyday.

First things first, post your SOA

  • thank you both so much. just clarity over the situation does wonders. Going to get a big cuppa and a box of tissues and attack it tonight and call CCCS .

    Thanks again x

  • I found the Citizens Advice Budgeting tool fab. It even does the hard work of letter writing and working out how much to pay each creditor. Take your time and fill it in accurately. You'll find it HERE
    Good luck
