Mercers nightmare advice needed please?

Hi,

Im doing a DMP on my own with advice from CCCS.
All my creditors have accepted £1.00 per month apart from Barclaycard who have passed the debt on to Mercers, this really suprised me as Barclaycard are the creditor I owe least to.
Despite them not accepting my offer I am still paying £1.00 per month into the account every month by standing order (I initially sent cheques but they didnt cash them)
Now Mercers are constantly threatening to take me to court etc, they call me around 14 times per day on average but I never answer, I sent them a 'contact me only by post' letter a few weeks ago but it doesnt seem to have deterred them.
I get letters every couple of days & a text from them without fail 3 times a week threatening legal action.
Has anyone else had any experiance of dealing with Mercers or could offer any advice please?

Gosh - how annoying. I think I'd report them now. I can't remember who you report them to but hopefully it says on the letter you sent who you'd report them to.
Maybe the FSA, Trading Standards etc?
Hopefully they will stop and perhaps even offer you compensation as they sound appalling.
I guess this is not going to be resolved quickly though - perhaps you need to get in touch with your phone provider and change your number? or maybe you can get certain numbers barred - why not give you phone provider a call and see if they can help?
Have you got online access to your Barclays accounts? if you can then see if you can get in and delete your number.

Have you sent them the standard "sod off calling me on the phone" letter?

You could buy a "trucall" machine which can bar whatever number you like - it records as well.

When Mercers give up, it will go on to Calder Financial - yet another arm of Barclays....:rotfl:

thanks, things aren't great but I'm trying to get there, hope ur ok?
I just tried my phone provider they said that they can't bar the numbers as they are not registered as sales or nuisance numbers
I don't know if the Trucall thing works on mobiles chippy? Yes it was just the standard letter I sent.
If I'm sticking to the payment I offered will they have a case if they take me to court? My income is minus £900 + & will get worse soon as on mat leave.

Hi Vic,

No, the machine is only for landlines..

If they are stupid enough to take you to court, they would only get awarded what you can afford to pay anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much, it's just the usual carp they send out. Don't lose too much sleep over it........;)

Thanks Chippy I'm trying not to let them get to me my blood pressures already high enough & don't fancy a premature baby caused by it
