hi,
i have just got my PC back from the shop where they reinstalled everything exceot the viruses.... (and office but i have the disc and can manage that...)
anywho, there were 2 users on my PC. me and an appletest - which was set up around christmas when i had issues with my i-phone...
me as a user always had a 'normal' looking screen colour wise. however appletest seemed to have issues with the monitor - there are bands of colours and strange hues... as they didn't set up the two users again i now seem to have the bands and stripes etc....
any help that people could give me would be much appreciated, as i desperately need to get some applictions off - and if i can avoid paying out £10 out on taxis next week it would be really good for my wallet.
sorry about the dodgy typing but i have to install word etc and would normally spell check there....
any help would be greatly appreciated, and feel free to ask anything that you want to know,
thank you all.

Try reseating the monitor connectors. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

It sounds like you just have a desktop background that is not to your taste as a duff monitor would be duff for all users.
Right click somewhere on the desktop, select properties then choose a background colour or wallpaper in the desktop tab.0 -

it's not the background it's definate bands of light and dark going across the screen - and definately not the monitor as it was previously fine for me and duff for appletest....
for example now i cannot tell that the little faces in my signature are martin.... he's a shillouette.
all the colours seem to have gone funny....

To recap, are you getting strange colours in all circumstances or just one user account?
If all then it could be the monitor, unscrew the connectors carefully reseat and screw them up firmly. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
i now only have one user however i used to be able to flash between the two users and have normal and then the funky strip effect that seems to have odd colours.....
will do the unscrew thing....

Maybe the resolution is incorrect then? Properties again and settings tab.
The only way two users would have different displays is if the software settings were different.
Is it a TFT (flatscreen) or CRT (great big boxy thing).

good to see penryhn got you sorted by diagnosing a loose connector - the mystery for me is why just switching user would alter that.0 -
it's a flat screen - and i'm with you on the wierd factor with the 2 different users but it worked, so i'm happy.....
